Body Acceptance & Relationship With Food
How you feel about your body can impact all aspects of your health. This is not limited strictly to your physical health. It also impacts your happiness level. It can determine whether or not you participate in joyful activities. It can even increase levels of depression and anxiety. Sadly, the media does not help in this area of self-esteem. Interestingly, most of us feel unsatisfied with our body size, looks, weight, height, etc because we don’t fit into the standard “American” image of “perfect”.
How Does Exploring This Area Cultivate Joy?
During our sessions, we explore what YOUR idea of an “ideal body" and why it may exist. We discuss your relationship with food and movement. What are your habits? What are you missing out on because of them? Do they support you? Is there guilt or shame around food and eating? These are all important things to observe and recognize and can be key steps in either changing how you feel about your body, or transforming your body into a more attainable, and realistic soul’s vessel. Many of my clients are coming out of Food Addiction recovery programs and endless dieting attempts with major food relationship concerns of shame and guilt. Authenticity and Boundaries
The button pushers of life….. they are here to help us grow, to learn what we will accept and what we won’t. Establishing our boundaries, recognizing when they are being challenged, and holding them strong are often challenges that we must face. This is not selfish, instead they should be looked upon as critical tools to help us and others navigate our relations with each other. How Does Establishing Boundaries Cultivate Joy?
Boundaries are personal but they are the key to communicating to others how you want to be treated. They have no judgement to be placed upon them. They are not right or wrong, they simply are. When we don’t recognize them within ourselves or we don’t “own” them and expect them to be respected by others, it can also can make us feel resentful, unappreciated and taken advantage of when they have been crossed. The problem is that most of us have not been taught to recognize our own boundaries, or even to have any, until they get crossed. Resentment and anger are sure to follow. This creates tension in your relationships between family members and loved ones. If you struggle with this, learning how to recognize, create and maintain these beautiful communication guidelines can be part of your focus sessions.

We come to earth with a purpose, some of us already know what ours is, some of us need time to explore this. Sometimes figuring out what that purpose is - is the challenge. When we bring this energy into our lives, our lives inherently become more soulful. We become more considerate of the energies around us. The people we spend our time with and what we spend our thoughts on become more aligned with our inner self.. We go from the doing, doing, doing to is this doing any good? Is it serving my soul authentically? What practices best support my life in a soulful way? These are all questions that are worth pondering and considering to open up to a more authentic you.

Sometimes the many pressures and challenges in our lives are expressed outwardly. It can be as simple as an abundance of collections, of physical items, collected over a period of time, or it can be an abundance of “lack” that we may feel in our lives.. Essentialism doesn’t mean giving up everything and living on a little. It means really looking at what cultivates YOUR joy and making space to truly appreciate the more material tools and keepsakes of your life!

Focusing on what emotionally and physically supports us in terms our surroundings can be an incredible way to cultivate Joy. This can truly help us de-clutter not only our surroundings, thus appreciating what we LOVE MOST, or essentializing our minds so as to create more energy and time for the things that mean the most to us.
Holistic Health Coaching
Weight management, stress management, healthy choices, exercise, nutrition, stretching and movement are all things that are good for us right? Yes, of course. What happens though, when we leave our very well intended doctors offices or therapists, and have to deal in our own realities of “I’m supposed to do what?” , “When am I going to fit that in?” ,“but I LOVE Ice Cream!” “take two of theses” or my favorite, “Your fine, everything in moderation, even though you know your not feeling optimally healthy.”

When we work together, we work on all life topics, such as your career, love life or friendships, food, physical activities, spiritual practice, your aspirations, not just your BP or what to do about your constant headaches or inability to sleep. Health coaches are the in between support services who assist you with staying on track with your intentions. They may be nutritional needs or even get down to the real reasons why you may not be sleeping at night. Possibly it is the realization that your personal goals aren’t being met. During our sessions, YOU get to decide what is important to YOU. Together we establish some attainable health goals and keep you on track so you can see real progress in between those visits.

Although a consistent Yoga practice is a wonderful place to start, it often can be so much more than your daily, weekly, or monthly Yoga class and what you look like on the “outside”.
